The majority of our trips are five nights and six days. Shortened trips are sometimes available. A Middle Fork of the Salmon River trip is a vacation in one of America's most spectacular playgrounds. We do not adhere to a rigid schedule, but vary our stops and activities according to the interests of the group.
A typical river day begins with breakfast around 8:30 a.m., with coffee available earlier. The boats are loaded and we are on the river around 10:00 a.m. With frequent stops for lunch, hikes, scouting rapids, volleyball, fishing, etc. we reach our camp around 4:00 to 5:00 p.m.
All of our campsites are assigned to us by the Forest Service on the day of our launch. Each site is our home for the evening, one that we don't share with other parties, except in emergency. Campsites are remarkably clean and litter-free. Forest Service pit toilets, or "carry out" tank toilets and privacy screens, are available in all river camps. Drinking water is available throughout the trip, and hand-washing systems are provided for meals and in camp. All fires are contained in a fire pan with the ashes carried out to the river's end to avoid fire scares.
It's an amazing place, the Middle Fork; you need to experience it in order to comprehend its pristine beauty.

Your adventure begins in the rustic Central Idaho town of Stanley. We recommend you arrive in time to make our 6:30 p.m. orientation, held on the eve of the trip at the Mountain Village Resort ( 1-800-843-5475). We have rooms blocked in our company name but you will need to call and reserve your room. Please call and make your room reservations at least two weeks prior to your trip.
At 8 a.m. the first morning, we will board a bus for the trip to the Middle Fork launch site. At the end of the trip, our bus will return you to Stanley. Arrangements can be made to have your vehicle shuttled to the end of the river or for a flight from Salmon.

The crystal clear waters of the Middle Fork offer spectacular spin and fly fishing for cutthroat trout, rainbow trout and Dolly Varden. An Idaho fishing license may be purchased in Stanley prior to your trip. Single barbless hooks, and catch and release regulations apply on the Middle Fork. Waders are not necessary. Fall fishing trips are also available from Middle Fork Rapid Transit.

Because of the popularity of Middle Fork trips and the limits imposed on the outfitters, EARLY RESERVATIONS ARE A MUST! Contact Grant Porter at Middle Fork Rapid Transit - (888) 433-5628, (208) 338-9162 or via email at info@IdahoRaftAdventure.com.
We will "tentatively" hold a reservation for 10 days following your notification to us requesting space on a particular launch date. Your booking will be guaranteed immediately upon receipt of your $600 per person deposit. Deposits can be placed with VISA, MasterCard, American Express, Discover or by check.
Final payment is due no less than 90 days prior to departure. Reservations made less than 90 days prior to departure require full payment. Group and charter reservations require final payment no less than 120 days prior to departure.

If a reservation is cancelled 90 days prior to launch, the deposit, less a $100 per person service charge, will be refunded (120 days for group and charter trips).
Should you have to cancel your reservations within 90 days of the launch date, deposits and final payments are non-refundable. You may replace your reservation with alternate guests, however.
Trip insurance is highly recommended as the Middle Fork is located in the wilderness area and is prone to wildfires and slides. If your trip is cancelled as a result of a wildfire or slide your trip will not be refunded.

Trip cancellation and interruption insurance is available and recommended. Insurance can be purchased through your local travel agent.
